Headquartered in NYC, the client was looking for their first Head of HR, to help build and establish an HR infrastructure to support company growth as the client was looking to double in size in the next 3-4 years through mergers and acquisitions. The company at the time of search was $300M in revenue.



Scope


To identify and appoint the client’s first Head of HR for the organization. The client had an HR department that consisted of benefits, payroll and a couple of recruiters. This role would report into the CEO. Our client was looking for a strategic HR Leader to handle due diligence/integration of future acquisitions as well as build a best practice HR function so that they could hire and retain top talent while they were in growth mode. Additionally, culture fit was a major priority for our client and beyond just a skillset match; our client was particularly interested in looking at candidates who would be a strong match for their entrepreneurial, flexible, fast paced environment.



Solution


Once scope was established and timelines agreed, we agreed upon a retained search campaign. We jointly developed the responsibilities of the role, a go-to-market narrative and search toolkit, including job descriptions, scorecards and dashboard. Eastward carefully mapped the market for individuals who fit the exact brief.

Eastward presented 2 shortlists, 7 candidates total, each matching core competencies and culture, with a different strength to bring to this newly formed role. Given the opportunity to define a new function for the company, Eastward endeavored to show the client the benefit of each candidates’ respective skills and background.



Result

The project ran for 12 weeks and the outcome was an absolute success.

Result: Eastward Partners successfully appointed a Chief Human Resources Officer for the client. The project cost was managed within budget guidelines, with a retainer/engagement fee paid initially, and the remaining amount due on placement. The candidate and client were both very pleased with the process and experience.
